Platinum One players Ollie Watkins (Exeter City) and Enda Stevens (Portsmouth) were on the list of winners at Sunday night’s EFL Awards, with Watkins claiming the coveted EFL Young Player of the Season award, and Stevens being included in the EFL Team of the Season.
Ollie has spearheaded the Grecians’ promotion charge this season, finding the net 14 times. The youngster beat off competition from Reading’s England Under-21 international John Swift and Oxford United’s Ryan Ledson.
Watkins said: “I am really pleased to have been recognised by the EFL. It has been my breakthrough year at Exeter and I appreciate the manager for believing in me.”
Previous winners of the award include Gareth Bale and Dele Alli, and Watkins’ name is now on that elite list.
Enda meanwhile was selected as the left-back for the EFL Team of the Season, picked from across all three divisions. He has been an ever-present for Portsmouth in their promotion push this season, featuring in 39 of their 41 games to date.
The former Ireland Under-21 international joined Portsmouth in 2015, and has become one of the club’s key players in the past two seasons.
